This is the reverse side of the Mainzer Aktien Bier beer mat. It first appeared in 1959, when the brewery celebrated its 100th anniversary. The traditional symbol is at the top.
This looks like the second variation of four.
Mainzer Aktien Bier (literally, Mainz share beer), was first brewed in 1859. It was taken over by Binding (Frankfurt) in the late 1960s. The brewery was torn down in 1982, but the brand is still sold. The name reflects its status as one of the first German breweries to be incorporated.

This Bierdeckel appeared in four editions, with only slight variations. The first one was issued in 1959, when Mainzer Aktien Bier celebrated its 100th anniversary. This looks like the second variation.
The beer mat shows the Mainz Cathedral (Dom), with a beer wagon. I almost certainly drank the beer in June 1963, when I stopped in Mainz to get the first service on my new Volkswagen. I also took the Rhine steamer, an important goal in my early travels in Germany.
